This seems like a strange topic to cover but it is believed that there actually is better times to your twitter posts than others if you want to get maximum exposure. The reasoning sounds simple enough and I am going to tell you why I believe that this is correct.

It is believed that one of the best times are in the morning around 9a.m. to 10a.m. The reason why is because people are getting to work and usually screw around for a couple minutes and will check out what is happening there on twitter. Then after this time they tend to jump into their daily tasks and go to work, letting twitter go to the side.

The second time that is good for posting in twitter is around 4-6p.m. The reason is pretty much the same. People are slacking off and tend to look at this before they go home for the day.

The third best time is after dinner. People are usually sitting with a laptop on their…laps. Watching tv and in between commercials they are looking at what is happening online. This is another great time to spark conversations between you and people online.

The best day for posting on Twitter is Sunday night. The reason is that people tend to get ready for the week and are online and messing around. You can usually get a couple followers at this time.

Now this is been kind of proven but I would say post as much as you like. A good suggestions is to not have it linked to your facebook account. The reason behind this is because facebook doesn’t like you updating as much as you do on twitter. Plus in facebook you might have friends that don’t care about what you post on twitter. Like your Mom’s friends or friends that could care less about your industry.

Keep these updates separate. Another reason why this is not a good idea is because unless you are on Facebook all the time, you will not see what people are saying about what you posted. They could be sparking conversation with you and if you don’t reply they might think that you have these posts coming automatically. And nothing looks crappier than an automatic posting bot. So don’t get categorized as one of those people.

Hope this helps. If you have anything to say about this please leave a comment and I will get back with you at my earliest convenience. See you on the interwebs.

This is a question that has recently been coming up in forums and around the internet a lot. We all know that social networks are here to stay and if you are not apart of this growing market then you are going to miss out on some important possibilites for marketing. But the important thing to remember is how you are going to market.

Just think of your offline world. Have you ever been at a party and there seems to be a guy walking around a party just promoting the crap out of some MLM or trying to get you to buy Life Insurance? Most people will try to avoid this guy like the plague. Nobody likes to be sold to, and a lot of people don’t like to tell people no. The same rules apply online. If you are in a social network for no other reason then to promote yourself you will be noticed and people will not want to talk to you. It is so much easier online though. All someone has to do is unfollow you or take you off as a friend.

Happens to me all the time of facebook. These people get no love. As soon as I get 3 emails in a row from the same guy and none of it has value except to promote his agenda, they are gone. You will need to remember this when you in the social networks if you really want to build relationships with people.

If all else fails follow the John Reese approach. Give value, value and some more value. Then when you do have something you want to promote people will feel almost obligated at least to take a look.
